Blogging With Coranto
Reading RSS newsfeeds requires a special software program. Here are a few choices:
FeedReader - http://www.feedreader.com (alternative download also at: http://www.simtel.net) Headline Viewer - http://www.headlineviewer.com AmphetaDesk - http://www.disobey.com/amphetadesk
I've heard others say they use and recommend Feedreader (vers 2.3). It is simply fast, nice-looking and compact.
This message is more of a "follow up" to my post and reply to Stephen Rose where I suggest XML RSS newsfeeds may be a future alternate option to mass mailing email newsletters to a list of subscribers.
There is software you can install on your site called Coranto that is a next- generation news script that includes support for unlimited users, easy Web-based setup and configuration, fully customizable news style, auto-archiving, support for add-on modules, ability to maintain different news pages/categories, an email notification option, and more.
One of addons is "RSS File Advanced" that creates RSS 0.91 (XML) files for news broadcasting through RSS feeders. You can offer your site's headlines to anyone and get increases in visibility with no effort at all. Support for category filtering, multiple (standard and Maginot) profiles, UTF-8 and Latin-1 encodings (i.e. also for characters with accents essential for French, Italian, Spanish, Greek etc!).
Besides making your news available to other sites -- software downloads mentioned above, like FeedReader will allow people to automatically download the latest news from your site to their desktop.
If you have had any experience, regardless of whether you are a user, programmer, or web site owner, please feel free to share what you have learned on my message board. This post is a more "in-depth" look at what may become a future alternative to emailing subscribers your newsletters.
If you haven't had any experience with this technology, please feel free to voice your opinion, comments or concerns on this topic on my message board at:
