Programming LanguagesA trend I see developing with some marketers, is to build software programs that will benefit their customers. If this is you, and you would like to get started but don't know where to turn, I offer these resources: This one has versions for both MAC and Windows. And it's a pretty good version of a Standard Basic language too. Good for beginners on up to advanced programmers. Chipmunk Basic v. 3.5.3 Chipmunk Basic is an old fashioned Basic interpreter which runs on almost all Macs, and is accelerated for PowerMacs (and Windows). Supported features include AppleScript, Drag&Drop, graphics, sprites, sound, speech and OOP (object oriented programming). Runs on systems from System 6.0.7 thru MacOS 8.5, old Mac 512Ke's thru the latest Apple G3 PowerMacs and PowerBooks. Ok, the next few are basically just Windows languages, but they are great for intermediate programmers. Dialect Standard Edition v. 1.01 Aristar Dialect Standard Edition is an advanced programming system for Windows NT, 95, 98 and CE that allows developers to write applications with the following features:
Euphoria Programming Language v. 2.1 Euphoria is a simple, flexible, powerful, and easy-to-learn language that outperforms all other interpreted languages. You can develop 32-bit programs for both DOS and Windows. A Linux version is being developed. The Euphoria Web site contains over 300 free source programs that you can download. Euphoria is well-suited for developing action games. Euphoria is free, although you can get some advanced features by registering. (NB: Euphoria now also has a beta version for Linux) Personal Visual DialogScript v. 2.16 This is the FREEWARE version of Visual DialogScript, a simple programming language. It can be used to create batch files that are more sophisticated than those which can be created using MS- DOS batch language. VDS batch files can display a user designed dialog box, which can be used as an interface to the batch file to control it, get information or display progress. They can also display standard Windows message boxes. You can use VDS batch files to automate regularly performed tasks, create your own simple utilities, and generally make your use of your PC more productive. YABASIC v. 2.17 Yet Another BASIC for Unix and Windows 95/NT. In short, yabasic implements the most common (and simple) elements of the langugage plus some Grafic facilities; anyone, who has ever written basic-programs on a C64, should feel at home.
