According to an article on the CBC website, the author says a zine is "short for magazine, is a self-published, small-circulation collection of original or photocopied artwork bound into a book. The author is a teen from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and has been selling her zines all over the world. Gee Stewart draws, glues, types, hand stitches and edits zines. The idea has taken off and she invites her readers to contribute to the work by submitting their own content. Some of it what she receives gets published in her zine. The CBC says she earned a "nomination for a 2019 Vital Excellence Award from NextGen Cape Breton, an initiative that recognizes Cape Bretoners 16 to 40 who are making the island "a better place to live, work and play."
I don't have any idea how much she earns from selling her zines. Perhaps it's more about her passion than a desire to earn a lot of money, but at 18 years old... she has a lot of time to figure out how to turn this into a big money earner if that's her desire.
